Music

Music is everywhere. Eveyone whistles and sings, eveyone has a rhythm, everyone can sing and sounds REALLY good. Artur (my Brazilian brother) told me that when you play music, you play it for eveyone, not just for you in your car or at home. As a result, you get the best speakers on the plnet and play your music as loud as humanly possible. (The "pimped out rides" of Norht America would be put to shame by the amount of money spent on speakers here in Brazil). It is wonderful! Tonight I have my first Engligh lesson with my host family. (Wish me luck!) Tomorrow I get my first taste of Samba!

More about that to come...

Love to all. NEVER STOP THE MUSIC!

Samba! We may never get you back! Keep enjoying the music, companionship, rhythm and dance. Remember we love you and wish you the best time! I may wish you the best of luck with your English lesson, but also know you will ace it. Keep on having fun. Love Dana

The universal appeal of card games and music! I look forward to hearing about the samba for sure, and the English lesson, too! I remember teaching English in Taiwan, and how odd it was at first to be in that position, but how fun it became and how much I loved it and the people I taught loved it, too. It can be a great way to be in relationship with others--plenty of opportunities for humorous situations! I remember trying to teach the mom of a family I was working with, and she could not understand the concept of the word, "privacy." After trying all kinds of angles on it I finally realized that in Taiwan, where people squish together like sardines in the busses, and the houses are built one on top of another with no concern for sound-proofing, and families of five pile together on top tiny little yamaha motorcylces, they simply did not have the same concept at all, let a lone give it a name. That sort of thing can be very interesting. Anyway, enjoy! I'll tune in again to hear more....
